Mr. James William Barrett, Sr. of Dyer, TN, passed away March 6, 2026 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.  James was born May 18, 1972 in Water Lake, Michigan to Virginia Lowery and Danny Ray Barrett, Sr.  He was a life-long auto mechanic.  He was skilled in engine repair as well as paint and body work and occasionally worked in construction.  He and his son, Brandon, operated JW & Son Auto Repair for several years.   In his free time, James enjoyed time spent with family and friends hunting and fishing.

James is survived by his mother, Virginia Lowery Barrett, his step-father, William Powers, his sons James William Barrett, Jr. and Brandon Lynn Barrett, Sr., his daughters in law; Kaiytlin Magsig and Lauren Barrett, his brother Danny Ray Barrett, Jr. his sisters; Stacy Atkins, Brenda Jordan and Crystal Benitez.  He was loved greatly as "PawPaw" by his grandchildren; Chloe Marie Barrett, Scarlett Barrett, Brandon Lynn Barrett, Jr., Brandon Carter Winberry, Bentley Levi Winberry, Elena Grace Barrett, Ava Ann Barrett, Jasmine Renee Barrett, Santana Barrett, Konta Barrett, Navila Raine Barrett, Charlie Drew Barrett and Bradley Lynn Barrett.  He is preceded in death by his father, Danny Ray Barrett, Sr.
