Obituary

Charles L. Toombs, 77, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was the owner of Toombs Upholstery and was a Methodist. Charles served 9 years in the Army National Guard and was a member of the gun club.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Toombs of Dyersburg; two daughters, Sherry Barnhill and Carolyn Kilzer, both of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren, Cory Needham (April), Alayna Nevels (Chris), Hollie Jarnigan, Heidi Patterson, Heather Kelley (Jason), Blake Evans, Lauren Evans and Paige Evans, all from Dyersburg; his great-grandchildren, Beau Needham, Carson and Karigan Nevels, Navaeh and Rain McCurrie, K.J. and Kayden Harston and Paris Johnson, all of Dyersburg; three brothers, Jerry Toombs, Ronnie Toombs and Deward Toombs, all of McKenzie; and his beloved pets, Oscar, Pinky and Chloe.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Evans; and his parents, D.C. and Frances Toombs.

Pallbearers will be Chris Nevels, Jake Haddock, Randy Toombs, Lynn Toombs, Blake Brewer, Mark Waldron and Ty Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be John Thomas Waldron, Billy Neal and Tony Yarbro.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Dyer County Community Cancer Fund or to Dyer County Humane Society.
