William Oscar "W.O." Henry, Jr., 93, of Dyersburg, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at The Highlands of Dyersburg.
He was a retired switchman for the Illinois Central Railroad and a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Mr. Henry was a member and Deacon at Springhill Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery with military honors. Bro. Jack Chapman will be officiating the service. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Irene Dixon Henry of Dyersburg; a daughter, Dianne Nale of Dyersburg; a son, Bill Henry of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Buffie Canada, Bryan Nale and wife, Melissa, Kacey Goad and husband, Jacky, and Lindsey Parker and husband, Chris, all of Dyersburg; and six great-grandchildren, Finley Canada, Mason Nale, Jack Nale, Joe Henry Nale, Kaleb Goad and Larsen Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Oscar, Sr. and Ruby Griffin Henry; and a brother, Lynn Henry.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Copeland, Jim Hampton, Dan Tickle, Jake Browning, Larry Christian and Terry Nale.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society.
