Obituary

William Allen "Pug" McGuire, 78, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at his residence.

He was a retired school teacher for Dyersburg High School, where he taught metals class for 25 years. Pug was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Tennessee Education Association, and a member of the National Education Association. He served as Sgt. First Class in the U.S. Army, where he was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne and the 11th Airborne. Pug was an avid horseman, dog trainer, and quail hunter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The McGuire Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou McGuire of Dyersburg; a son, Jeff McGuire of Dyersburg; and five brothers, Jimmy McGuire, Donald McGuire, Sammy McGuire and David McGuire, all of Dyersburg, and Charles McGuire of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Bonnie Mae Gibson McGuire; and three brothers, George McGuire, Glen McGuire, and Gene McGuire.

Pallbearers will be Eric McGuire, Austin McGuire, Sam McGuire, Jr., Kevin McGuire, Darren McGuire, and John Henson. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Harris, Charles Seaton, Marty McGuire, Randy Purvis, David Haddock, and Gerald Evans.
