Mr. William Harry Hummer, Sr. age, 93, of Dyersburg, Tn passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the West Tennessee Veteran's Home in Humboldt, Tn.
Mr. Harry was born February 21, 1925 to the late William Hummer and Bessie Horner Hummer Peery. He retired from Tennessee Department of Tourism as Regional West Director, he was a member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ, manager of the Dyer County Fair, owner of the Bogota Cotton Gin, and member of the Bogota Hew Haw Prime Time Players. He was a WW II US Army veteran where he served as a Corporal. He fought in the European Theatre. He was an antique enthusiast and a avid hunter and fisherman.
Visitation for Mr. Hummer will be Saturday, December 29, from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the Dyersburg Funeral Home, with funeral services to be held on Sunday, December 30, at 1:30 P.M. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home conducted by Mr. Scott Owen and Dr. Ralph Reynolds. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Hummer is survived by two sons. Bill Hummer (Donna) of Dyersburg and Sam Hummer of Dyersburg, his five grandchildren, Connie Brewer, Christie Hamm (Keith), Eric Hummer (Lori), Bethany Hummer (Scott), and Megan Boswell (Tyler). He was also survived by five great grandchildren Haleigh, Houston, and Hanslee Hamm and Katelyn and Mason Hummer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Artie Lurline Hollis Hummer and by an infant son.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Boswell, Keith Hamm, Jeff Brewer, Robert Horner, Jim Horner and Eric Hummer.
