William Harry "Bill" Hummer Jr., beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and uncle went to his heavenly home on October 21, 2022.

He was born on January 22, 1945 in Dyersburg, TN to the late William Harry Hummer Sr. and Lurline Hollis Hummer. Bill was an avid Tennessee football fan, loved watching old movies, listening to records and had a beautiful baritone voice. He loved animals and took very good care of all his pets. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a security policeman from 1963 to 1967. After leaving the service he worked as an agent for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, as a teacher and coach at Holice Powell Elementary and as a GED instructor for Dyersburg State Community College. He was a member of Lake Road Church of Christ.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 - 1:00 on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home conducted by Bro. Phil Hall. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Donna Cooper Hummer; two daughters, Megan Boswell (Tyler) and Bethany Hummer (Scott); two grandsons, Robin Reeves and Hudson Boswell; one brother, Sam Hummer and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Honoring Mr. Bill as pallbearers will be Eric Hummer, Ben Cooper, Ethan Cooper, Mark Cooper, Dennis Cooper and Tyler Boswell.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
