William Eugene "Gene" Phillips, 86, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
He was born on November 12, 1930 in Dyer County, TN. He was a retired printer and owner of Wallace Printing Company. Gene was a member of Phillips Street Church of Christ and was a wonderful Christian man. He served his Country in the U.S. Air Force and then retired from the TN Air Force National Guard with over 20 years of service.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Golson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie Ozment Rice Phillips of Dyersburg; two sons, Glen Phillips and wife, Marlena, of Dyersburg and Don Phillips and wife, Mimi, of Memphis; a daughter, Joyce Wilson and husband, Don, of Coldwater, MS; two step-sons, Jim Rice and wife, Suzanne, of Friendship and Tim Rice of Tigrett; a step-daughter, Terry Cook and husband, Randy, of Dyersburg; a sister, Myra Sue Barker Covey of Dyersburg; fifteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thad Phillips and Elizabeth Dale Sharpe Phillips; a sister, Ima Jane Phillips Thurman; and a wife, Florence Ann Miller Phillips.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Brandon Phillips, Jay Rice, Tim Rice and John Rice.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Phillips Street Church of Christ.
