Wendy
Haynes
April 18, 1957 – March 4, 2022
Wendy White Haynes, 64, of Germantown, TN, formerly of Tiptonville, TN, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2022. Wendy was born in Ridgely on April 18, 1957 to Raymond White and June Jimerson White. She graduated from Lake County High School in 1975. She went on to complete her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she remained an active alumna. She later earned a Master's degree.
After graduation, she started her career as an underwriter for Hartford Insurance in Memphis, TN. She returned home to work for Lake County School Systems, teaching at Lake County High School until her retirement in 2017. She excelled in the classroom as an economics, keyboarding, and business teacher and as yearbook sponsor. Some of Wendy's fondest moments were spent playing tennis, gardening in her backyard, traveling to TN sporting events, cooking, smocking her daughter's dresses, playing the organ at Tiptonville First Presbyterian Church, but nothing brought her as much joy as spending time with her two girls to whom she devoted her life.
Wendy had a gift of hospitality and loved hosting friends and family in her home during the holidays. Every year when her daughters would ask her what she wanted for Christmas, her response remained the same, "I don't want anything. I just want to be together with my girls."
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville with Rev. Barbara Blackmon-Fortune officiating. Burial will be in Crockett Chapel Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive visitors starting at 2 p.m. until service time at the church.
Pallbearers will be Kent Patterson, Trent Patterson, Larry Paschall, Monty Mooney, Steve Smith and Mark Hayes. Honorary pallbearer will be Rob Shaw.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father, Raymond White and mother, Gloria June Jimerson White. She is survived by her daughters Mary Elizabeth Humphreys (Alan) of Memphis, TN and Sarah Lamb (Stewart) of Indianola, MS, sister, Melody White Taylor (Bruce) of Memphis, TN and grandchildren John Raymond Humphreys, Charlotte McKenzie Humphreys, Katherine Louise Lamb, and Jack Scheller Lamb.
The family requests that memorials be sent to First Methodist Church of Ridgely, Reelfoot Rural Ministries, or the charity of your choice.
