Obituary

Virginia Ellane Work, 77, of Ridgely, TN, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

She was born on June 26, 1945, in Ridgely, TN, to the late Jim Frank York and Ada May Sams York. Virginia was retired from Tokeim Manufacturing and was also a former employee of Honeywell Manufacturing and the Penguin Group for many years. She was a devout member of Cottonwood Baptist Church, where she enjoyed going to church and spending time with her church family. Virginia lived life to the absolute fullest and enjoyed shopping.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at Cottonwood Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Adams and Bro. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at Cottonwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Doug Work of Ridgely, TN; two daughters, Penny Work Coyne of Jackson, TN and Angela Work Hooper (Charles) of Hornbeak, TN; four grandchildren, Lee Ann Coyne Hoppers (James) of Cordova, TN, Laura Hooper Sechler (Spencer) of Chattanooga, TN, Kristi Jones (Josh) Bogota, TN and Tyler Ligons (Carley) of Ridgely, TN; and seven great-grandchildren, Liam Hoppers, Brodie Hoppers, Oliver Hoppers, Charles Todd "CT" Sechler, Emma Jones, Wyatt Jones and Asher Ligons.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Frank York, Jr., Cletus York and David York; three sisters, Marie Braddy, Josephine Cheser and Lorene Crafton; one granddaughter, Ashley Ligons; and one great-granddaughter, Zoe Hoppers.

Pallbearers will be Charles Hooper, Josh Jones, Tyler Ligons, Bubba York, Ricky York and Robert York.

Virginia was blessed with so many that loved her. She made a lasting impact on everyone with her happiness for life, always greeting them with open arms and a huge smile. She was tremendously loved by her family, including her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
