Obituary

Virginia Ann "Miss Jenny" Acker Edwards, retired Director of Christian Education at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and librarian at Central Elementary School in Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on April 1, 2015.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Dr. Gerald Franklin Edwards; two sons, Jerry Mark Edwards and wife, Suzanne Styron Edwards of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Bentley Franklin Edwards and wife, Shawn Stephens Edwards, of Ridgeland, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Jerry Mark Edwards, Jr. and wife, Sarah Awadalla Edwards, of Alpharetta, Georgia; Amy-Allison Edwards Russ and husband, Richard Weston Russ, Jr., of Jackson, Mississippi;  Andrew Bentley Edwards and wife, Kelly Rawlings Edwards, of Madison, Mississippi; Sarah Anne Edwards of Austin, Texas and fiancée, Gary Stephens; five great-grandchildren, Stewart Prather Russ, Henry Weston Russ, Addison Mae Edwards, Elle Rawlings Edwards, and Bentley Claire Edwards; two sisters, Lil Brown, and Margaret Simpson and husband, Chuck Simpson; a sister-in-law, Betty Edwards Leirer; a brother-in-law, Carl Coleman; and many adored nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Bentley Acker and Margaret Freeman Acker; a sister, Tine Coleman; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Brown and Leon Leirer.

Pallbearers are Mark Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Weston Russ, Gary Stephens, David Leirer, David Brown, and Mark Costlow. Honorary pallbearers are the Elders of the Dyersburg First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the "Miss Jenny" Edwards Christian Education Fund, First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2280 Parr Avenue, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, at the Dyersburg First Cumberland Presbyterian Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12:30. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
