Virgil Ramey, Sr., 72, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired machine operator for Poly One, formerly attended Southside Assembly of God and a member of Senior Circle.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Rev. Don Williams and the Rev. Lynn Drumwright officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Frances Ramey of Dyersburg; three daughters, Betty Jean Roberts and husband, Steve, and Rochelle Ramey, all of Dyersburg and Cathy Diane Ramey of Newbern; three sons, Virgil E. Ramey, Jr., Lester Ramey and Eddie Ramey and wife, Pattie, all of Dyersburg; two sisters, Minnie Jean Criswell of Millsfield and Alice Gruggett of Greenfield; three brothers, Ernest Ramey of Newbern, George Ramey and Eugene Ramey, both of Dyersburg; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cube Smith "Doc" and Ruby McKee Ramey; a daughter, Brenda Jean Ramey; four brothers, Robert Ramey, Buckey Ramey, Raymond Ramey and Roland Ramey; and a great-grandson, Michael Alexander Overton.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Baggett, Eric Roberts, Steven Roberts, Stevie Conder, Alvin Lee Neal and Franklin Neal.
