Vernon "Coop" Hester, 87, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired farmer and attended Cornerstone Church of God.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Shannon Seliba and Rev. Lynn Drumwright officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Riggins Hester of Dyersburg; a son, Jimmy Hester and wife, Amy, of Dyersburg; a sister, Sheila Ratliff and husband, Kenneth, of Dyersburg; a step-sister, Jean Cutcher and husband, Ray, of Dyersburg; a step-brother, Clyde Farley of Finley; three grandchildren, Reed Hester, Connor Hester and Anna Glynn Hester; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lynn Hester; his parents, Buck and Birdie Greer Hester; a brother, Virgil DeMoss Hester; and four sisters, Nola Leonard, Doris Hester, Myrtle Paschall and Anna Laura Wallace.

Pallbearers will be Neal Lewis, Mike White, Don Smith, Tim Vestal, Royce McGuire and Jason Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Magee, Bill Cloar, Hoss Davidson, Robert Willard, Robert Epperson, Bo Goad, Bobby Williams, Herman Reed and Sammy Bradshaw, Jr.

The family requests that memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
