Venice Sweet Thurmon's Obituary
Venice Sweet Thurmon, 98, of Dyersburg, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of The Seventh-day Adventist Church. She and her husband celebrated their 78th wedding anniversary on Saturday, November 22, 2014.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at The Seventh-day Adventist Church with James Gilley officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy B. Thurmon of Dyersburg; a daughter, Camille T. Gilley and husband, Jim, of Thompsonville, IL; a daughter-in-law, Judy Thurmond of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren, James Gilley, Jr., Mary Ann Krueger, John T. Gilley, Amy Bearman, Lara Thurmond, Stephen Thurmond, Amber Carlson and Jonathan Thurmond; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four nephews Rod Sweet, Tom Sweet, Alan Sweet and Dale Sweet.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Earl Thurmond; her parents, E.H. and Willie Maloy Sweet; and two brothers, James Sweet and Ewell Sweet.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
