Obituary

Vena Lou Powers, 76, of Halls, died Monday, May 16, 2011 at her niece's residence in Dyersburg.

She was a homemaker and a member of Independent Free Holiness Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Independent Free Holiness Church with the Rev. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her three daughters, Tammy Burns and Linda Milligan, both of Dyersburg and Ruth Barton of Mason Hall; two sons, William Powers of Obion and Wayne Powers of Poplar Bluff, MO; four sisters, Florence Bishop and Bessie Ables of Dyersburg, Betty Patterson of Finley and Shirley Webber of Florida; three brothers, Howard Ables of Alabama, Larry Ables of Dyersburg and Orville Ables of Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Powers; a daughter, Darlene Richards; a son, Don Ables; and her parents, Edward and Viola Canada Ables.

Pallbearers will be Travis Klutts, Eric Roberts, Steven Roberts, Wesley Bounds, Matthew Eaves and Breanna Vaughn. Honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Klutts.
