Velma Thurmond Underwood's Obituary
Velma Thurmond Underwood, 95, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse with Parkview Hospital, a resident of Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center and a member of Phillips Street Church of Christ.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Mr. Andy Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her sister, Rachel Watson of Dyersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Underwood; her parents, Richard and Hattie Thurmond; seven sisters, Lula Neal, Nora Thurmond, Mary Thurmond, Lela Thurmond, Liddie Keeling, Willo Mae Wright and Aline Cohoon; and six brothers, Ferd Thurmond, L.R. Thurmond, John Thurmond, Gene Thurmond, Stephen Thurmond and Otho Thurmond.
Pallbearers will be members of Phillips Street Church of Christ.
