Tracy Scott Smith, 61, of Newbern, TN, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

He was born on March 28, 1961, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late James and Shirley Ann Yates Smith. Tracy worked in the maintenance department for the Dyersburg City School System. He was a former Correctional Officer for Fort Pillow State Penitentiary and West Tennessee Max. Tracy was a Baptist by faith and was an avid reader of his Bible and enjoyed listening to classic rock music. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and the Tennessee National Guard.

Memorial services for Mr. Smith will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter, Brandy Smith of McComb, IL; two grandchildren, Bristol Smith and Errow Scott Smith, both of McComb, IL; his sister, Lynn Walker (Robert) of Roellen, TN and their daughter, Hannah; two nieces, Ericka Sparks (Brandon) and their son, Gunner and Candra Urbanski (William) and his special friend, Charlene Stewart of Laurel, MS.

In addition to his parents, Tracy was preceded in death by a son, Adam Smith; a sister, Shelia Diane Pennington; and his grandparents, Woodrow and Odell Yates.
