Tommy Ray Lovell, 88, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Tommy was born on July 10, 1935, in Ridgely, TN, to the late, Vannie and Hattie Law Lovell. He was a retired principal for Margaret Newton Elementary School, where he worked for 30 + years and was an avid hunter.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville with Rev. Barbara Blackmon-Fortune officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Lovell Family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the church.

Survivors include his son, Dr. Thomas Lovell and wife, Dr. Jane Poole Lovell, of Jackson, TN; a daughter, Lisa Lovell Hansel and husband, Bill, of Germantown, TN; seven grandchildren, Harrison Jones (Kyrstine), Allie Jones (Will Wilson), Richard Jones (Dawn), Emily Jane Fleming (Thomas), Peter Bartlett Lovell (Madeline), Anne Thomas Lovell and Edward Joseph Lovell; and five great-grandchildren, Tanner Jones, Evie Jones, Blaine Wilson, Thomas Ray Fleming II and Kennedy Jones.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Smythe Lovell; two sisters, Mary Ruth Perkins and June Faye Wallace; and three brothers, John Lovell, Connie Lovell and David Lovell.
