Obituary

Thomas Oakley Seratt, Sr.,65, of Dyersburg, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was the retired President of Union Planters Bank after 11 years, a member and deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church, past President of Dyersburg Jaycees and Civitan Club, member of the Gideons, former Banker with First Tennessee Bank for 20 years, a former Red Coat Volunteer at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center, a Dyersburg City Alderman for 8 years, a mentor at Dyersburg Intermediate School and was in the Tennessee Army National Guard for 6 years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn King and Mr. Larry Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Reasons Seratt of Dyersburg; two sons, Thomas O. Seratt, Jr. and wife, Amy, of Dyersburg and Tyler V. Seratt and wife, Ashley, of Yorkville; two sisters, Shirley Seratt Baker and husband, Jimmy, of Murfreesboro and Linda Seratt Bryant and husband, H.M., of Plano, TX.; and four grandchildren, Trevor and Tanner Seratt, both of Dyersburg and Malachi and Thatcher Seratt, both of Yorkville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nadel House Seratt.

Pallbearers will be Buster Gibson, Gene West, Mike Moore, Vandal Spoon, Shelton Jones, Roy Childress, Talmadge Brown and Guy Hansford. Honorary pallbearers will be Dyersburg Gideons, Deacons of Hillcrest Baptist Church and Jim Nickel.

The family requests that memorials may be directed to the Gideons International or to the charity of the donor's choice.
