Thomas Everett Newby, 91, of Newbern, TN, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the Tennessee State Veteran's Home in Humboldt, TN.

Thomas was born on March 1, 1932, in Evansville, TN, to the late, Thomas Zachariah Newby and Sarah Lesah Britanna King Newby. He was a retired Sergeant First Class with the United States Army. Thomas served 3 tours in Vietnam and 1 tour in Korea. He was a member of the Jesus Name Tabernacle Church in Caruthersville, MO and the Good Sam's Square-Dancing Club. Thomas was a proud member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge and the NCO Club. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife, traveling and golfing.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Jesus Name Tabernacle Church in Caruthersville, MO with Bro. Richard Lee and Lt. Col. Chaplin Claude Newby. Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Reagor Newby of Newbern, TN; four daughters, Ann Newby of Marina, CA, Sarah Moore of Dyersburg, TN, Laura Bruce (Greg) of Lexington, TN and Francis Marie Newby of Dayton, NV; a son, Nick Moss (Sue) of Boiling Springs, TN; thirteen grandchildren, Bobby Newby (April), Megan Sanborn (Evan), Josef Favia, Rita Richard, Nikolas Newby, Daniel Newby, Mallory Bruce, Holly Carter, Jason Moss (Kelly), Rick Reynolds (Lori), Tom Reynolds (Barbie), Becky Kowliski (Jimmy) and Deanna Nicole Tate; ten great-grandchildren, Nathan Richard, Thomas Drake Newby, Astrid Sanborn, Avaree Sanborn, Mateo Bruce, Kristin Lucas (Perry), Chandler Hernadez (Montae), Sam Moss (Lori), Michaella Smith (Nathan) and Kimberly Bellott; and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by eight brothers, William Ervin Newby, Ruben Lincoln Newby, Emmett Earl Freddie Wesley Newby, Otis Uldric Newby, Albert Jesse Newby, Clinton Claxton Newby, Alfred Eugene Newby and Martin Lafayette Newby; four sisters, Flossie Mae McCormick, Mary Elizabeth Stinnett, Sarah Geneva Watson and his twin, Anna Evelyn Cobb; a granddaughter, Cristin Lynn Moore; and his son, Tim Reynolds.
