Thomas L. Dewey "Tom" Burns, 75, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Tom was a retired teacher for Dyer County High School and Newbern Vocational School. He was a former employee of the City of Newbern and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with Capt. Scotty Sewell officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The Burns Family will receive visitors from 12-2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Burns of Dyersburg; a daughter, Tiffany Burns Felkner and husband, Erich, of Washington, IN; three sons, Thomas Wade Burns, James Keith Burns and wife, Kathy, and Jeffery Scott Burns and wife, Karen, all of Dyersburg; a sister, Judy Cobb of Texas; a brother, Max Burns of Dyersburg; twelve grandchildren, Benjamin Burns, Jennifer Meyer, Jessica Byrd, Samantha Hooker, Robyn Burns, Jeremy Pugh, Katelin Glossup, Kelly Montgomery, Taylor Pugh, Emma Burns, Ethan Burns, and Matti Felkner; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Clarissa Wilson Burns.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Burns, Jeremy Pugh, Taylor Pugh, Chuck Byrd, Josh Meyer, Alex Montgomery, and Gerald Hooker.
