Thomas Presley Barnes, 74, of Ridgely, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired employee with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, where he worked for 35 years. Thomas was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ and a U.S. Army Veteran.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Retta Barnes of Ridgely; a brother, Melvin Barnes of Ridgely; a half-sister, Teresa Cohn of Seattle, WA; a grandson, Thomas Johnson; five nephews, Joel Barnes of Wichita, KS, Eric Barnes of Collierville, Brad Barnes of Ridgely, Gary Moore of Memphis and Dale Gibson of Maryville; and a special friend, James Watkins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Barnes Johnson; and his parents, Noah and Mary Willo Herron Barnes.
