Sybil Hicks Jones, age 83 of Dyersburg, TN passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family.

Sybil was born on December 4, 1939, in Friendship, TN to the late James & Charlie Kate Burns Hicks. Early in life, Sybil worked for 7 years with the State of TN, Department of Children Services. After the birth of her first daughter, Sybil decided to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker, which she loved and continued up until her passing. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her flowers and birds. Sybil was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 60 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday June 8, 2023, from 6 until 8 at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home conducted by Bro. Phil Hall and Bro. Lynn King. Burial will follow in Bellevernon Cemetery in Friendship, TN.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jennifer Pitts (Keith) and Jacqueline Jones both of Dyersburg, TN; two grandchildren, Lauren Kate Pitts of Memphis, TN and William Edward "Will" Pitts of Dyersburg, TN; and a caregiver who became like family, Casandra Robertson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Vernon Jones; two brothers, Charles Hinton Hicks and James Lawrence Hicks Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Lucas and Ada Lou Zehner.

Honoring Sybil as pallbearers will be Kim Peckenpaugh, Hal Pennington, Will Pitts, Paul Alford, Trent Alford, and Richard Robertson  Honorary pallbearers wil be Ken Alford, Malcom Gean, Jim Lucas, Jerry Lucas Jeff Lucas, and Jason Lucas.
