Surcy Lee Anderson, 90, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Highlands of Dyersburg.
He was born on April 24, 1928, in Finley, TN, to the late Cecil Anderson and Grace Yelvington Anderson. Surcy was a retired shift foreman for Dyersburg Cotton Products, where he worked for 51 years. He was a member of the Dyersburg Cotton Products Bowling Team, a member of Finley United Pentecostal Church and a member of "Victory Quartet", which members include: Surcy Anderson, Buck Moore, Peggy Farley, Ray Jones, Jr. and pianist Shirley Anderson. In 1991 at the age of 63, Surcy received his GED from Dyersburg State Community College. For 30 years he had mourned the death of his wife, Shirley and longed to be with her. God has now granted his request to join her and his loved ones who have gone on before.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery officiated by Bro. Doug Ellingsworth, Pastor of Finley United Pentecostal Church with music provided by Tim Walker. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 2:30-3:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his son, David Anderson and wife, Dianne Weaver Anderson, a granddaughter, Amanda Anderson Williams and husband, Richie Williams; a great-granddaughter, Brylee Williams; and a sister, Mary Sue Anderson Smith and husband, Ivan Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Raley Anderson; three brothers, Arthur Anderson, Elvis Anderson and Sylvester Anderson; and a sister, Mildred Anderson Tidwell.
Pallbearers will be Mark Anderson, Paul Anderson, Jimmie Anderson, Gene Finley, George Swader and Ronnie Patton.
