Shirley T. Thurmond, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at her residence.

Shirley was born in Bogota, TN, to the late, Odie B. and Clara Chandler Jones. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Dyer County School System and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Thurmond Cemetery in Halls, TN with Mr. John Huse Robinson officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Thurmond Family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, James R. Thurmond of Dyersburg, TN; a son, Sam Thurmond of Dyersburg, TN; four daughters, Mitzi Riggs (Mike), Susan Troy (Bill) and Cheri Pilkenton (William), all of Dyersburg, TN and Trudy Jones (Chris) of Eads, TN; two sisters, Judy Welch (Mike) of Florida and Carol Krzeminski of Dyersburg, TN; grandchildren, Emily Conrad, Abbey Riggs, Harris Troy, John Troy, Hanna Jones, Charlie Thurmond and Chase Pilkenton; and great-grandchildren, Sophie Conrad, Brantley Pilkenton and Harley Pilkenton.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a son, Terry Thurmond.

Pallbearers will be William Pilkenton, Sam Thurmond, John Troy, Mike Riggs, Harris Troy and Chris Jones.
