Sherry Jo Woolverton-Jones, 54, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2026. She was born on September 20, 1971 at Parkview Hospital in Dyersburg, TN. Her loss has left her family and friends with heavy hearts as they remember the kind, caring, and compassionate person she was.
Sherry dedicated many years of her life to working as an optician, a career she truly loved because it allowed her to help others see the world more clearly. She found joy in caring for people and took great pride in the work she did.
She had a creative spirit and enjoyed crocheting, drawing, writing poetry, and reading. At least one of her poems was even published, something she was very proud of. She also loved board games and had a special love for rainbows, which reflected the bright and hopeful outlook she shared with those around her. Sherry was known for her generous heart, her charitable nature, and her willingness to help others.
After becoming ill in 2016, Sherry faced years of declining health with strength and resilience. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family finds comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
She was preceded in death by her beloved uncle, Dr. Dennis R. Woolverton, O.D.; her cherished maternal grandparents, Reverend Richard Woolverton and Betty Criswell Woolverton; and her paternal grandparents, Bishop Casey Jones and Flora Jones of Illinois.
Sherry is survived by her loving parents, Pamela Woolverton Jones and Calvin Dwight Jones; her sister, Muranda Jones, and Muranda’s son, Flynn Jones; and her brother, Jason Jones. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory and carry her love with them always.
Flynn was the apple of her eye, and she shared an especially close bond with her brother, Jason. Together, they created countless cherished memories that will be treasured forever. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Friends and family members are invited to gather at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 to celebrate the life of Sherry Woolverton-Jones.
