Shelia Ann
Wood
January 19, 1948 – February 27, 2020
Shelia Hammond Wood was born in Dyersburg, TN on January 19, 1948 and passed away on February 27, 2020 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. She was 72 years old.
She is survived by her son, Chris Wood of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; her daughter, Stacy (Brad) Sanko of Niceville, FL; two brothers, Scotty (Judy) Hammond of Newbern, TN and Rob (Pattye) Hammond of Tiptonville, TN; two grandchildren, Jonah Sanko and Annie Sanko, both of Niceville, FL; and her mother, Frances Hammond of Dyersburg, TN.
Shelia loved living at the beach with her husband, David, who recently passed. She could often be found collecting sea shells, sand and other treasures from the ocean. She loved to re-purpose old furniture and antiques, as well as paint. Shelia loved to travel, visiting places all over the world with her favorite being Hawaii. Shelia wore many hats and was very loved by her family. She was known as "Aunt Shelia", "Mom", "Shelia" and her favorite title, "Gammy". Her grandchildren, Annie and Jonah, were her pride and joy, her reason to bake birthday cakes, sing crazy songs and most importantly move to Florida. Shelia trusted the Lord and always found great comfort in her faith. She will be missed by her family and friends, but she is happy now. She had a wonderful life.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Loren Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
