Shelia Ann Southerland

Shelia Ann Southerland, 74, passed away on September 25, 2026, at her residence. She was born on July 11, 1952, in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Mrs. Southerland was a homemaker whose life was centered on faith, family, and caring for others. A member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church, she loved her church and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was known for her sweet, loving, and caring nature toward everyone, and she was a second “mama” to many. She also found joy in working in her flower garden and especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. To those who knew her best, she was truly the best mama and memaw in the world.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Rev. Carl Southerland of Tiptonville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her children: Josh Southerland and his wife, Krystle, of Tiptonville; Dana Dew and her husband, Chauncy, of Hornbeak; Brittney Southerland of Dyersburg; and Dawn Dean of Dyersburg. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Austin Dew, Luke Dew, Rebekah Dew, Evan Southerland, Emma Southerland, and Izzy Southerland, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

She is further survived by her brothers, Joe Boy Marvin of Tiptonville, Tony Marvin of Union City, and Rodney Marvin of Tiptonville; and by her sisters, Vicky Peery of Newbern, Carolyn Jones of Ridgely, and Mary Farmer of Tiptonville. She leaves a family circle who will continue to carry her love, her example of kindness, and the strength of her faith forward.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Marvin; her mother, Mary Burkett Marvin; her sister, Linda McClain; and her brother, Robert Marvin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 6665 Push Road, Hornbeak, Tennessee 38232. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Calvary Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Southerland officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Carl Southerland, Chauncey Dew, Josh Southerland, Austin Dew, Luke Dew and Evan Southerland.

Shelia Ann Southerland will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who were blessed to know her. Her life reflected devotion, gentleness, and steadfast love for her family, her church, and her Savior.
