Sarah Bruce Goldsby, 69, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born on May 11, 1949, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Horace and Virginia Finch Bruce. Sarah was a teacher for the Dyersburg City School System and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Lunch Bunch, member of the Bereavement Meal Team and assisted with Monday Meals for shut-in and homebounds. Sarah was active in the Emmaus and Chryalis Community, active in the Dyersburg Community Bible Study Group and was a member of the Jubilate Deo Sunday School Class. She was also active in her grandchildren's lives and their activities.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Russell, the Rev. Ed White, the Rev. Will Clark and the Rev. Dell King officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the church.
Survivors include her husband, George E. Goldsby, Jr. of Dyersburg; two sons, George E. "Tres" Goldsby, III and wife, Brittney, of Bells and Samuel Andrew "Drew" Goldsby and wife, Miranda, of Jackson; a daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Goldsby Smith and husband, Kevin, of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Anna Claire Goldsby, George Earl Goldsby IV, Caleb Thomas Smith and Cora Joy Goldsby; a niece, Jenny Lindner Watts and husband, Dennis, of Flora, MS; and three great-nephews, Jonathan Edward Watts, Samuel Andrew Watts and Benjamin Bruce Watts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Bruce Lindner.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to Reelfoot Rural Ministry.
