Remembering the Life of Sandra Lou Pruitt
With hearts both grieving and grateful, the family of Sandra Lou Pruitt announces her peaceful passing on August 28, 2026 at the age of 80, as she went home to be with the Lord she loved and served so faithfully throughout her life. Sandra, a beloved member of her family and community, was born November 14, 1945 in Dyer County. She was the cherished daughter of the late Aaron Preston Adams and Pazzetta Steward Adams. She lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to those around her.
She never sought recognition or applause—her life was her testimony. This was evident throughout her career as a registered nurse, her time volunteering for the local Salvation Army, and her countless contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Children’s Homes of Arkansas and Kentucky. She believed love was best shown through action: a warm meal delivered without being asked, a whispered prayer spoken for someone who might never know she was praying, a handwritten note or card.
A loyal member of West Dyersburg Church of Christ, faith was not simply something Sandra practiced on Sundays; it was the rhythm of her everyday life. She trusted God in both ordinary moments and difficult seasons. Whether teaching children, serving in her church, caring for neighbors, or comforting friends during hard times, she quietly reflected Christ’s love wherever she went. Serving others was never an obligation to her—it was her calling and her joy.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Oscar “W.O.” King (2001), her second husband, Robert Pruitt (2020), her sister, Linda Kay Hayes, and four brothers: Hollis Adams, Gene Adams, Billy Adams, and Terry Adams. She leaves behind a loving family spanning five generations, all of whom will forever hold her memory close, including brothers Earl (Shirley) Adams of Dyersburg, TN; Donnie (Janet) Adams of Gates, TN; and Ricky Adams of Dyersburg, TN.
A celebration of her life will be held at West Dyersburg Church of Christ on Saturday, September 5, 2026 with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. and service beginning 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. In honor of her servant’s heart, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the following organizations:
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
Children’s Homes, Inc.; 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450

The Salvation Army of Dyersburg; 318 West Market Street, Dyersburg, TN 38024
