Ruth I. Smeton, 89, of Dyersburg, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was a retired office manager for the Deaf Referral Services in Baltimore, MD and a member of Spirit and Life Christian Church in Dyersburg, TN.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Apostolic Christian Fellowship Tabernacle Church in Owings Mills, Maryland with the Rev. Earl Heist, the Rev. Darrell Ward and the Rev. Donny Reagan officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland. Evans Funeral Chapel in Baltimore, MD is in charge of the funeral services. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at Evans Funeral Chapel.
Survivors include her son, Eddie Paul Smeton, Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, Veronica Smeton-Ramsingh and husband, Mark, of Macon, GA., John Smeton of Dyersburg and Joshua Smeton of Athens; and two great-grandchildren, Stephan and Jason Ramsingh, both of Macon, GA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Smeton, Sr.; her parents, Conrad and Bernadine Ompteda Dippel; three sisters, Elizabeth Dippel-Renner, Agnes Dippel-Christ and Anna Dippel-Travis; and a brother, John Dippel.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Propalis, David Propalis, Arnie Hoffman, Bobby Avery, Stevie Avery and Kenny Crowl.
