Obituary

Ruth Moore Newbill, 90, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at her residence.

She was retired as a teacher and librarian for the Dyer County School System, a member of Finley United Methodist Church and former Sunday school teacher, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority, a former librarian for the Dyersburg/Dyer County Teachers Center, and an avid bridge player.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Gunter officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Newbill Walters and husband, George, of Germantown; a son, Raymond R. Newbill Jr. and wife, Janice, of Covington; a sister, Betty Moore Lewis of Helena, Ark.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Newbill Sr.; her parents, Fred and Martha Massey Moore; a sister, Amanda Dement; and a brother, Dr. Fred Moore Jr.

Pallbearers will be Mel Holland Walters, H. Raymond Walters, Russell Newbill, Robb Newbill, Dr. Roy Dement, Judge Lee Moore, James Dement Jr. and Dr. Fred Moore III.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to Finley United Methodist Church or the Professional Development Center, 305 College St., Dyersburg, TN 38024.
