Obituary

Ruth Dale Hurt, 89, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

She was a retired switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with Dr. Larry Blakeburn officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her niece, Betty Beardsley and husband, Skip, of Newbern; three nephews, Jerry Little of Tucson, AZ., Burton Little of Phoenix, AZ. and Billy Cursey of Dyersburg; two great-nieces, Margaret Little of Phoenix, AZ. and Laura Beadsley of Knoxville; two great-nephews, Tim Little and Craig Little, both of Phoenix, AZ.; and her special friend, Lisa Capps and husband, John, of Newbern.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Hurt; a son, Joe Frank Hurt; a sister, Doris Cursey; a brother, Adrian Little; her parents, W.B. and Myrtle Moody Little; and a great-nephew, Richard Little.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Moody, Chuckie Moody, William Mallard, George Hollingsworth, Dean Dedmon and Danny Dedmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Lola Summers Bible Class.

The family requests that memorials may be directed to the Youth Group of Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission.
