Ruth Gay, 93, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living Center.
She was a retired telephone operator with South Central Bell, where she worked for 28 years, member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ and a member of Telephone Pioneers.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Halliburton officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her Goddaughter, Patty Moore and husband, Jerry, of Dyersburg; a nephew, James Rivers Sudbury of Poplar Bluff, MO.; and two grandchildren, Brad McClendon and Heidi McClendon Tidman, both of Texas; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Gay; a son, Michael Lee McClendon; her parents, Benjamin and Lilly Woodall Sudbury; two sisters, Maggie Lou Sudbury and Demetra Sudbury; and six brothers, Otho Sudbury, Paul Sudbury, Franklin Sudbury, Harry Sudbury, Darrel Sudbury and Oliver Sudbury.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Moore, Jody Moore, Jimmy Moody and Buck Nash.
