Ruth Irene Armstrong, 93, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Bells Nursing Home and Rehab Center.
Ruth was born on September 7, 1923 in Rovel, LA to the late Charlie Willis and Jeanette Jordan Hollingsworth. She worked over 40 years in the cafeteria and the sewing department at Dyersburg Fabrics. Ruth previously had worked at Woolworth's and Foster's Cafe. She was also a member of Dyersburg First Assembly of God Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Jowers officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her son, Paul Armstrong and wife, Nancy, of Dyersburg; two granddaughters, Angie Singleton of Dyersburg and Anissa Clement and husband, Harrell, of Alamo; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Bennett of Dyersburg, Spencer Via of Memphis, Sadie Singleton of Dyersburg, Ellie Singleton of Dyersburg and Emma Singleton of Dyersburg; and an adopted sister, Marie Hollingsworth Vickers of Dyersburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Armstrong; a step-son, William Armstrong; three brothers, Phil-Henry Willis, Jake Willis and Clifton Willis; two half-sisters, Thelma Burton and Elsie Burton; and two half-brothers, W.H. Burton and Paul Burton.
