Roy B. Thurmon, 100, of Dyersburg, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at his residence.
He was a retired minister and member at Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mr. Thurmon was a writer who had published two books.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor James Gilley officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Elbridge, TN. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his daughter, Camille Thurmon Gilley of Colfax, CA; a brother, Parks Thurmon of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Venice Thurmon; a son, James Earl Thurmond; his parents, James and Ira Wilson Thurmon; five sisters, Regina Marshall, Ruth Hailey, Jewel Pigg, Angela Seaton and Wilma Whybrew; and four brothers, Melvin Thurmon, Earl Thurmon and Hurtle Thurmon, and J. E. Thurmon.
Pallbearers will be James Gilley, Jr., John Gilley, Stephen Thurmond, Jonathan Thurmond, Tom Moss and Chuck Erickson.
