Robert "Pete" Richardson, 88, of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was a retired employee from Dyersburg Fabrics. He was a devoted husband and father, avid gardener and a U.S. Army/Air Force Veteran of WWII, where he fought at Okinawa.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his two daughters, Debra Powell of Nashville and Tanna Canada and husband, Jimmy, of Newbern; one step-son, Dwayne "Buddy" Sasser of Union City; a sister, Carrie Mayberry of McKenzie; four grandchildren, Kevin Canada and wife, Christy, of Newbern, Angela C. Perry and husband, Shane, and Tyler Powell, all of Nashville and Marc Sasser and wife, Amanda, of Medina; three great-grandchildren, Jake Canada, Brett Canada and Gage Canada, all of Newbern; his devoted friend, Betty Culver of Newbern; and a special thanks to his caregiver, Amy White.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Jean Richardson; his father, Robert Richardson; his mother, Thelma Richardson Yelvington; a sister, Bessie Sorrell; and a son-in-law, Bill Powell.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests that memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
