Robert "Bob" Hart, age 69 of Newbern, TN passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.

Robert was born on May 14, 1954 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Robert and Helen Thrasher Hart. He retired from Dyersburg Funeral Home as a funeral director after 40 plus years of service to the families of Dyer, Lake and surrounding counties. Robert had previously worked as a Funeral Director at Curry Funeral Home for many years. He was honored to serve as an Alderman for the city of Newbern for over 24 years. Robert was a member and served on many committees over the years including the membership & education committees of TFDA, the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and Middle Tennessee State University Aerospace Program. He loved to fly and was proud to be a licensed private pilot since 1974. Robert was a member and attended West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

The family will receive visitors from 5 until 8 on Saturday, August 19, 2023 and from 1 until 3 on Sunday, August 20, 2023 all at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 20,2023 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home conducted by Bro. Jim Chamblee and Mr. Rick Crawford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, TN.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Demetris Miller Hart of Newbern, TN; one son, Jeff Hart (Keri) of Newbern, TN; one daughter, Jennifer Hart Holder (Darrin) of Clinton, KY; one brother, Dickie Hart of Dresden, TN; and four grandchildren, Makayla Grace Hart, Landon Heath Holder, Rylee Claire Hart and Miller Aaron Holder.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ferrell.

Honoring Robert as pallbearers will be his nephews, Dustin Warren, Shane Warren, Derrick Butler, Brett Lovett, Colton Butler and Drake Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Funeral Directors and part-time employees he has worked with over the years.

The family request that memorials be directed in his honor to St. Jude Research Hospital or West Dyersburg Church of Christ.
