Obituary

Robert C. "Bob" Paridy of Orange City, FL passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014.

Born May 26, 1923 in East St. Louis, IL, graduated from East St. Louis High School.

A Coast Guard Veteran of WWII, he served the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.

Joining The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance in 1950. He was assigned the Memphis Inspection area, where he met and married Martha Ruth Moody of Finley. Moving to the St. Louis Office and living in Belleville, IL. Robert C. Paridy II was born in 1960. In 1963, he transferred to the Boston office as Chief Inspector.

In 1971, he transferred to the Philadelphia Office as Chief Inspector. In 1978, he moved to the Home Office Engineering Dept as Assistant General Manager of the company's Nondestructive Testing and living in South Glastonbury, CT.

In 1983, he was assigned the position of Director of Jurisdictional Affairs. Working with various states in the Boiler and Pressure Vessel area regarding regulations, he served on the Boiler/Pressure Vessel Advisory Boards of the States of Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

He served as Chairman of the Boiler/Pressure Vessel Legislative Committee of The American Insurance Association in New York and Washington, D.C.

Bob was a Master Mason and member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. He was an avid bird carver and scratch built, scale model boat builder. Retiring in 1988 and moving to Florida in 1991, he and Martha enjoyed playing golf. Martha passed away in 2010.

The family will receive visitors from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Graveside services at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

He is survived by his son, Robert C. Paridy II; daughter-in-law, Nanette and grandson, Andrew, of West Hartford, CT; sister, Donna Kosydor of Swansea IL; and many nieces and nephews.
