Rita Joyce Broadstone, 78, of Franklin, formerly of Dyersburg, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Williamson Medical Center.
She was a retired secretary for the City of Dyersburg and attended First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg. Rita was a member of the Dyersburg Music Club, President of the West Tennessee Business Women's Association and was Dyersburg High School's Salutatorian Class of 1954.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Gerald Matlock officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her three daughters, Ellen Robey and husband, Mark, of Dearborn Heights, MI, Phoebe O'Bryan of Germantown and Marilyn Vanderford and husband, Phillip, of Columbia; a son, Richard O'Bryan, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Portland; a brother, Ira Simmons III of Jackson; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gordon Broadstone; her parents, I.W., Jr. and Elsie Klutts Simmons; and a grandson, Israel Paul O'Bryan.
Pallbearers will be Micah Taylor, Matt Taylor, Chad Vanderford, Todd Vanderford, Max Turner and Averett Robey. Honorary pallbearer will be Israel Paul O'Bryan.
