Obituary

Ricky Lynn Gatlin, 56, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was an EMT-IV for Dyersburg Regional EMS, a member of Dyersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Director of Dyer County Rescue Squad, a Dyer County Constable, and the former owner of Sound Waves and B&E Auto Parts. He dedicated his life to caring for others and represented the emergency medicine and rescue communities with utmost integrity and pride and was known as "Uncle Ricky" to many.

Services will be at 12 noon Saturday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Blakeburn officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 11a.m.-12p.m. Saturday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church

Survivors include his wife, Wendy McCulloch Gatlin of Dyersburg; a daughter, Karen Gatlin of Dyersburg; a son, Brad Gatlin and wife, Chrissy, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA.; his father, Earl Gatlin and wife Mary, of Dyersburg; a sister, Beverly Fowlkes and husband, Danny, of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, Morgan Reasons, Anna Gatlin, and Abby Gatlin; and special friends, J.C. and Cheryl Cutler.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Swafford Gatlin; and a brother, Earl S. "Duke" Gatlin.

Pallbearers will be the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads Region IV Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dyer County Rescue Squad, and the employees of Dyersburg Regional EMS.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Dyer County Rescue Squad.
