Richard Hayden Smith, 77, of Hickman, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at his residence.
He was born on May 22, 1942, in Tiptonville, TN, to the late Hayden and Zarah Powell Smith. Richard was a retired shipping/receiving fork lift operator for Goodyear and was a Baptist. He loved fishing, riding four wheelers and family get togethers. Richard retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Southerland officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Lynn Smith of Hickman, KY; two sons, Richard Glen Smith of Plain View, AR and Timothy Joseph Smith of Tiptonville, TN; five daughters, Joann Smith Gardiner of Water Valley, KY, Jennifer Lynn Smith Spicer and Amanda Michelle Smith, both of Tiptonville, TN, Stephanie Dawn Smith May of Danville, VA and Melinda Kay Mungle of Obion, TN; a brother, Charles Wade Smith of Collinsville, IL; two sisters, Peggy Berkbigler of Lake St. Louis, MO and Mary Ethel Cromwell of Hurricane Mills, TN; ten grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Jason "Big E" Eaves; a brother, Bobby Joe Smith; and a grandson, Charles Adam Smith.
Pallbearers will be Justin Spicer, Caleb Hays, Greg Shell, Paul Shell, Chucky Shell and Scott Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Gardiner, Dewayne Gardiner, Richard Smith and William Preslar.
