Obituary

Rev. Richard Walter Behnke, 77, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.

He was the Pastor and member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, IN. He served 27 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as Commander. Richard was a Minister for over 30 years and served as a Chaplain with the Dyersburg Police Department.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Stevenson and Deacon Tom McWilliams officiating. Burial will be in West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of almost 55 years, Barbara Behnke of Dyersburg; a daughter, Kristen Maly of Arnold, MO; two sons, Richard A. Behnke and wife, Kandee, of Carl Junction, MO and Paul Behnke and wife, Angela, of Milford, OH; a sister, Karen Moro and husband, Martin, of Grass Lake, MI; three brothers, Douglas Behnke and wife, Mary Anne, of AZ, David Behnke and wife, Carmen, of Sterling Heights, MI and Donald Behnke and wife, Sherill, of Okemos, MI; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Uhleman Behnke.
