Obituary

Raymond Buford Gilliland, Jr., 70, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at his residence.

He was retired as owner/operator of Gilliland Sheet Metal and a member of First Assembly of God. He was a former member of the National Rifle Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Mr. Raymond was the past President of the Forked Deer Bow Hunters Club, former Boxing Coach and Golden Gloves Coach. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God with Pastor Steven Winegardner officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathy Gilliland of Dyersburg; a son, Kevin Gilliland and wife, Debbie, of Newbern; four sisters, Vondilee Moore, Ann Green and Kathy Laws, all of Dyersburg and Sue Acree of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Brandon Gilliland and wife, Shannon, of Scott Air Force Base, Brent Gilliland and fiancée, Mandi Burnham, of Dyersburg; and Mark Graves and wife, Dee, of Dyersburg; and six great-grandchildren, Bryce Shell, Avery Gilliland, Leighton Gilliland, Ashton Lawson, Nadalyn Lawson and Bubba Lawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond, Sr. and Nancy Hardin Gilliland.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Mallard, Nathan Mallard, Will Mallard, Steve Littlejohn, Keith Mallard and Chris Ramey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Moser and Susan Moser.
