Perry T. Butler, 71, of Tiptonville, died Friday, August 10, 2012 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
He was a retired farmer, a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville, a 1959 graduate of Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, TN, graduate of Lambuth University, member of Tiptonville Fire Department, member of Lions Club and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Survivors include his daughter, Julia Butler Cureton and husband, Joel, of Norfolk, VA; two sons, Alan Butler and wife, Lisa, of Tiptonville and Kevin Butler and wife, Erica, of Marion, AR; a sister, Joy Butler Merritt of Olympia, WA; and a brother, Tim Butler of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Baker Butler; his longtime companion, Paula Cox Butler; and his parents, Perry and Tennessee Tipton Butler.
Pallbearers will be Albert Markham, Jerry Jones, Greg Allen, Waymon Tipton, Joel Cureton, David Perkins and Brent Work. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lindamood and Kirby Jones.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Tiptonville First United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or Reelfoot Rural Ministry.
