Paula Gill Patterson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Paula was born on November 28, 1949, in Martin, Tennessee, and throughout her life, she displayed a warmth and generosity that touched all who knew her.
Paula is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas Patterson, who stood steadfastly by her side through life’s many joys and challenges. She was a cherished mother to her daughter, Kim Rushing House of Murfreesboro, TN, her son, Brad Rushing (Beth) of Jackson, TN, both of whom brought her endless pride; her step-daughter, Stacy Patterson Pehau (David) of Arizonia; her five grandchildren, Anton Pehau, Alexis Fleming, Kaelah Rushing, Marissa Madrigal Rosas (Jay) and Abby Fleming; as well as her two greatgrandchildren, Cash Pehau and Ellie Madrigal Rosas. Paula’s extended family included her loving sisters, Fran Lowe (Ted) and Christi "Tina" Delosh (Adam) all of Dyersburg, TN; her sister-in-law, Pat Gill of Dyersburg, TN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom benefited from her wisdom and kindness.
Paula is welcomed into eternal rest by those who passed before her: her father, John Gill; her mother, Chris Gill; her sister, Sandra Gill; her brother, Darrell Gill; and her step-son, Phillip Patterson. Their memories will forever be cherished and kept alive within the family Paula loved so dearly.
Throughout her life, Paula pursued her passions with enthusiasm. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and traveling, seizing every opportunity to explore new places and discover new things. However, her greatest joy radiated from the time she spent with her family and friends, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth. Paula’s faith was ever-present and deeply meaningful to her as a member of Harvest Baptist Church, where she found community and spiritual nourishment.
Professionally, Paula dedicated several years as the administrative secretary for the Marriott Hotel in Memphis. Her commitment and diligence in this role reflected her steadfast work ethic and her genuine care for those around her, leaving a mark on countless colleagues and guests over the years.
