Obituary

Paula Annette Summers McGuire, age 55, of Cloverdale passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City on July 15, 2024. Paula was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. She never met a stranger and was willing to go above and beyond in any and every circumstance.  Paula loved Jesus and those around her fearlessly.

When asked what her goal in life was, Paula would never hesitate to say she always wanted to be a mama. This goal was only surpassed by her joy in being a MeeMaw to her two grandchildren as she anxiously awaited the arrival of the third. Anyone who knew Paula knew she had no greater joy in life than her grands. She was a world traveler, and enjoyed every memory made as she traveled with her family and her girlfriends. Paula served those in her community as Office Manager at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Paula is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law — Drake and Keaton McGuire and Dalton and Courtney McGuire, her grandchildren — Fields McGuire (Drake) and Landry McGuire (Dalton) all of Cloverdale, her mother — Betty Summers, her sister and brother-in-law — Wendy and Robert Peppers, her brother and sister-in-law — Wayne and Liz Summers, her nephew — Alex Peppers (Hope), her nieces — Courtney, Caitlyn, and Madelyn, and her aunt — Retha Jackson all of the Memphis area.

Paula is proceeded in death by her father — Paul "Peanut" Summers. Paula's husband of 27 years, Darryl, joined Paula in the arms of Jesus shortly after she was welcomed home.

Services will be officiated by Jeremy Powell at Crosswind Church of Union City on July 20th with visitation beginning at 1pm until the time of service at 4pm. Burial to follow at Zion Cemetery in Obion. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will include Drake McGuire, Dalton McGuire, Miles Edmiston, Wayne Summers, Robert Peppers, Alex Peppers, and Adam McGuire.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Paula to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the local chapter of The American Red Cross.
