Paula Sweat Hatch, 71, of Lake County, passed away peacefully at her home on June 25, 2026, surrounded by her family after a long battle with dementia.
Born on January 2, 1955, Paula was a beautiful soul who exuded love, compassion, and kindness to everyone she met. Her laughter was contagious, and her smile lit up every room she entered.
Paula was married to her high school sweetheart, Ricky Hatch, for 53 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another. They raised their two sons in Dyersburg, Tennessee. In retirement, Paula and Ricky enjoyed the beauty and peace of Reelfoot Lake, a place they were proud to call home.
Paula leaves behind her devoted husband, Ricky Lee Hatch; her two sons, Brian E. Hatch (Jenny) and Hunter Hatch (Anna); and her beloved grandchildren, Tucker Himes, Ella Grace Hatch, and Brylan Hatch, who lovingly knew her as "Granna." She also shared a sisterly bond with her niece, Vickie Robinson, and leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Paula.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Earl William Sweat and Hazel Dixon Sweat; her sister, Marie Purvis; and her five brothers, Robert Earl Sweat, Billy Sweat, Bobby Sweat, Terry Sweat, and Ricky Allen Sweat.
A true people person, Paula formed lasting friendships throughout her life and career. Her joy and love for life made a lasting impression on everyone around her. She devoted much of her life to caring for others and possessed a true servant's heart, finding great joy in meeting the needs of those she loved. Whether through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or simply being present, she selflessly gave of herself, making everyone around her feel valued, loved, and cared for.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, in the Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Paula's nephews, Bro. Scotty Sewell and Bro. Trevor Sewell. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m and from 10:00 a.m-11:00 a.m on Monday
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association .
