Paul "Sonny" Edgar Smith, 78, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on June 27, 1939, in Friendship, TN, to the late Robert Benton Smith and the late Lessie Mae Lepper Smith. Sonny was a retired industrial electrician for Noranda Aluminum and also worked for the Dyersburg Electric Department. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Sonny served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army and served in the Army National Guard Reserve.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Hall officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Linda Smith of Dyersburg; a son, Michael Smith of Dyersburg; a daughter, Sharon Baucom of Dyersburg; a brother, Ralph Smith of Dyersburg; two grandchildren, Chris Paulk and wife, Kasey, of Dyersburg and Stephanie Kissell and husband, Derek, of Ripley; and three great-grandchildren, Madalyn Davis, Jacob Paulk and Elaina Kissell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ida Martha Smith, Bobbie Jean Cherry and Melba Kolwyck; and a grandson, Stephan Nicholas Paulk.

Pallbearers will be Derek Kissell, Alan Cherry, Ben Cherry, Andy Butler, Bo Epperson and Robert Barker.
