Obituary

Paul Travis Burns, 72, of Dyersburg, was called home to be with his Savior on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009.
He was a retired farmer and attended Dyersburg Church of God of Prophecy.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Burns Horner of Clinton, Miss.; a son, Travis Burns and wife, Lori, of Dyersburg; two sisters, Peggy Davis and husband, Burlass, of Finley, and Sandra Jones and husband, Richard, of Dyersburg; a brother, Lewis "Doc" Burns and wife, Janice, of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hall of Hattiesburg, Miss., Jeff Horner of Madison, Miss., Josh Horner of Byram, Miss., and Barrett Burns and Addie Grace Burns, both of Dyersburg; four great-grandchildren, Trevor Williams, Ali Grace Hall, Tatum Hall and Brock Horner; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mary Baker.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 41 years, Gaithel Riggs Burns; his parents, Elmer and Eula Anderson Burns; a sister, Barbara Burns Smith; and two brothers, James "Sprig" Burns and William "Parse" Burns.

Pallbearers will be Barrett Burns, Jeff Horner, Josh Horner, Trevor Williams, David Burns and Danny Hickerson.
