Owen Douglas Schuff, 65, of Tiptonville, died Friday, January 27, 2012 at his residence.
He was a retired construction/ dredging inspector for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District, where he worked for 33 years, member of Crockett Chapel Methodist Church and attended Cottonwood Baptist Church. He was a 16 year member and a two year chairman of Lake County School Board, member of the Civitan Club, very involved in Lake County youth sports programs, worked with American Red Cross and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with Bro. Paul Adams and Bro. James Calhoun officiating. Burial will be at Crockett Chapel Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Schuff of Tiptonville; a daughter, Jaime Burpo and husband, Scott, of Tiptonville; two sons, Jim Mills and wife, Kim, of Tiptonville and Jason Mills and wife, Natalie, of Ridgely; a brother, Rodney Schuff and wife, Dannie, of Newport News, VA; his grandchildren, Kelly Kolwyck and husband, Brad, Blake Whitlow, Chris Mills, Jason Drake Mills, Jackson Mills, Jacob Mills, Jordyn Burpo, Peyton Lebo, Rylee Mills and Ryan Mills; and three great-grandchildren, Landon Brown, Maddox Kolwyck and Corbyn Kolwyck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Maxine Barker Schuff.
Pallbearers will be Terry Hopper, Tony Hutcheson, Daniel Callens, Tommy Hicks, Shane Hamilton, Mike Parker, Bryan Avery and Hank Curvin. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Tillman, Charles Chadwick, Bobby Joe Jones and Danny Calton.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Lake County School Board Members Scholarship Fund.
